Sceptre X405BV-F 40″ LED Class Full 1080P HDTV

Some TVs come with a lot of extra features, fancy add-ons that make viewing movies or TV shows an even bigger joy. This 40 inch TV is not one of them, however, but it comes with a decent performance for its money.

The Sceptre X405BV-F comes with a big problem in terms of ports however. It’s not that it doesn’t feature all the important types of ports that you might need. They’re just positioned in a really wanky way and getting to them is pretty hard. All ports are on the back panel, but half are facing down while the other half are facing towards the left. While individually they are really well placed and ordered amongst themselves, getting to them can be difficult since there are some good 14 inches to cover from the edge of the TV to the ports.

While the TV performs decently overall and is rated as one of the top 40 inch TVs on this review, there is a slight problem with the colors, which can put you off during movie scenes for example. Some colors that should appear normal can be taken closer to the extreme on this TV and things just pop out when they shouldn’t.

In terms of the ports themselves, the unit comes with three HDMI ports as well as a USB port, and even packs in a VGA port. Audio is covered by a coaxial audio port and a stereo RCA, but also 3.5 mm ports. While it might be hard to reach them, you shouldn’t have any trouble actually connecting all your peripherals to the TV.

In terms of video quality, the oCOSMO CE4001 might not be the best 40 inch TV for this review, but depending on your budget, it can be an alright option in the sense that finding it at a sizeable discount could be a great bargain. The TV seems to have a problem with skin tones but most of the other colors are handled very well. In some instances such as “blackest blacks”, it does quite impressively well.

This TV is great for movies or live streams where the image quality needs to stay on par with the speed of intense scenes or just real life. So if you’re watching a sports event, for example, Sony’s included Motionflow XR 240 is really useful because it kicks up the screen’s refresh rate by quite a bit. Ultimately, the content you watch seems more realistic.

It also features integrated cable management helpers, on the bottom side, in the back, and on the feet. While it’s not exactly rocket science, it’s a feature that many can appreciate, especially if you have a ton of cables around the TV for all your gadgets and devices. The TV’s design is very noticeable. Samsung used the 360-degree design on this one, offering the most appealing aesthetic no matter what angle you’re watching this TV from. This means that you don’t have to worry about it looking funny mounted on the wall or anything like that. Wherever you put it, it’ll look great. Also worth mentioning, it’s a very slim device. Keeping in mind the kind of power it packs under the hood, its thin nature is a feature in itself.

Sceptre returns in the 4K category in this review with another entry. This time around, we have a 40 inch 4K Ultra HD TV which promises more. However, it would seem that buyers are in for the same pattern, meaning a decent device for a more than reasonable price. While you can easily find better 4K TVs out there, the super low price (for a 4K TV) makes this model a valid option for those that don’t want to spend a whole lot.

One of the things that come as a consequence of the low price tag is the fact that it’s not even a smart TV. This means that you can’t really enjoy the same level of comfort that you would have on a device like the previously reviewed Samsung sets. While for some it’s not really a problem, since all their content comes from a streaming box or their gaming console, others might consider this a major drawback.

It does come with Dolby Digital Plus, which counts for something. It’s not Dolby Atmos but hey, you can at least count on a decent audio quality that will help out the TV when it comes to actually playing content and as a result, it’s rightfully rated as one of the best 40 inch 4K TVs

While you might be very well familiarized with what a TV should look like, you should get ready for an awakening because Samsung has knocked it out of the park with this one. Of course, at least that’s the case for the design department, for which the Korean giant has collaborated with Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec.

The device features its own custom remote, which has been reduced to a minimalistic design, further empowering the statement made by the TV itself. Ultimately, users that want simplicity in a nice package can have that with this remote.

From the last product’s price point we take a massive leap of faith to a more comfortable price range. However, we instantly get a sense of déjà vu from our last trip to this price range. This time things are quite similar so let’s start with this review

This unit comes without Smart integration, meaning that aside from your basic TV functionalities, you are more limited than with other TVs in terms of what you can actually do. With that in mind, it doesn’t mind that we don’t have the best 40 inch 4K TV on our hands here. If you’re looking for the best 40 inch TV to pick up the signal from your Apple TV or Xbox, or cable receiver, it does the job.
