TCL 40D100 40-INCH 1080P LED TV Review

TCL 40D100 40-INCH 1080P LED TV Review
Neal Bricker

If you’re looking for a new TV, the TCL 40D100 might be the one for you. With encouraging features in both design and functionality, this model promises a fulfilling experience. However, it remains to be seen if that’s actually the case. There are more TVs you can add to your shortlist in below review. As for the TCL 40D100, it’s time to dig a little deeper so keep reading this review.

“Be sure to check out the rest of the 40 inch TVs in our comparison here: Best 40 inch TV Review“

The design

When it comes to the design, this model isn’t exactly outstanding. It literally doesn’t stand out as it has a standard black finish and it rests on a couple of regular feet. Its thin bezel presents some advantages such as being able to mount it on a wall or just manage your free space better. When you first see it, you wouldn’t get this impression because it’s not extremely thin, but it makes do in this department. That’s more than we can say about other models, which don’t really put any kind of emphasis on the design, or exterior component of the TV.

TCL 40D100 specs

The TV uses LED technology and measures 40 inches across its display. That’s great news for those looking for an immersive experience since 40 inches is enough to captivate your full attention. Not only is it an LED display, but it also uses direct backlight technology. This means that you will get blacks that are considerable… blacker to other TVs. Given the fact that blacks are a crucial for proper contrast, this enhances the quality of the image considerably, overall. It weights 13.9 lbz and it was released in 2017.

Using HDMI

This is something that many would be ready to dismiss as not being a real feature, but it is far more important than many realize. The fact that it uses HDMI gives it the capability of reducing or even completely silencing input lag or signal loss, through the strength of an HDMI connection. You shouldn’t feel any kind of lag between your commands and what appears on screen.

The sound

While the picture might be pleasing, the sound quality could definitely use some improvements. If you’re looking to be astonished by how amazing the content you’re watching sounds, you might not like what this TV has to offer. We’re not saying that it’s fingernails on a chalkboard, but it could definitely use some improvements.

If you can manage with a less than optimal sound quality, or if you use an external output for your sound, you should have no problem in pointing out the benefits of owning the TCL 40D100. It’s worthy to mention that you might also find better-suited TVs at a really close price to that of the TCL 40D100, so you shouldn’t exactly jump headfirst into a purchase either.

Ultimately, the TCL 40D100 is a TV that does its job, as you’ve seen in this review. We like to think that it was built without thinking too much about what other TVs offer. The manufacturer focused more on what this model can do for the consumer. Where does the TCL 40D100 fare in your future shopping plans? Let us know in the comments section!

Pros:

  • Impressive video quality
  • radio frequency, usb, hdmi

Cons:

  • hard to get the contrast and saturation right
